IS CHRIST YOUR EXAMPLE???

If one accepts the Bible as the divine guide, and if to be a Christian means to be Christ-like, then one who professes same should examine Christ’s religious life-style to see if one is truly comparable. Here are some of Jesus’ practices and teachings for you to compare with:-

  1. The Blessing of Children – As a child, Jesus was taken to the temple and blessed; St. Luke 2:27-34; St. Mark 10:13-16.
  2. The Baptism – As an adult, He was baptized: St. Matthew 3:13-17; St. John 3:5.
  3. The Sabbath – Jesus observed the Seventh Day Sabbath, which is called Saturday, and not the First day which is called Sunday; St. Luke 4:16. Paul later re-emphasized the Sabbath’s observance in Hebrews chapter 4.
  4. The Feast Days – (i) As a child, Christ kept the Passover; not Easter, St. Luke 2:41-42. As an adult, He still kept the Passover: St. Matthew 26:18-19. (ii) The Feast of Tabernacles; St. John chapter 7. (iii) The Feast of Weeks/ Pentecost: Deut 16:16, Exodus 23:14-17, Acts 2:1, 1st Corinthians16:8
  5. Foot-washing – Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, not as an act of courtesy but as an ordinance to salvation; St. John 13:8-14. Having done this, He breathed on them that they might receive the Holy Ghost; St. John 20:22
  6. The Meat Law – Jesus in St. Matthew 15:11 said it is not that which goeth inside the mouth defileth a man but that which cometh out of the mouth. “For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.” 1st Timothy 4:1-5
  7. The Disciples’ Prayer – Jesus taught His disciples to pray; St. Luke 11:1-4, St. Matthew 6:9-13.
  8. Communion – Jesus served unleavened bread and water for His body and blood; Hosea 9:4, St. Matthew 26:26-28, 1st John 5:6-8.

It is interesting to note that when Jesus came, He did not adopt the varying religious practices that He encountered. Instead He established His Church, according to St. Matthew 16:18, for there is only One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism; Ephesians 4:5. If then, salvation is by Christ, who is our perfect example, His followers, therefore, should be “carbon-copies: of Him, for He said, “For I have given you an example that ye should do as I have done to you.” St. John 13:15.

We therefore should take a thorough inventory to see if we measure up to Christ’s standards. If we are not aware of all the teachings and practices of Christ (as there are more than is mentioned in this article) we should make it our duty to educate ourselves and not allow Revelation 22:18-19 to be a prophecy against us.

HOW COMPARABLE ARE YOU????

The Gospel Of The Kingdom

The Kingdom is also for individuals who have the fortitude to endure much tribulation, Acts 14:22 and those who are too determined to turn back, Luke 9:62.

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is His truth which His Church declares.
